The Sunshine Street Team is a dynamic new program designed to enrich the St. Petersburg experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers.
Our mission is to:
Our trained, friendly Sunshine Street Team members mobilize in the downtown waterfront parks and along Beach Drive and Central Avenue every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during November – May from 11am to 3pm. We provide directional, entertainment and cultural center guidance to city visitors from near and far. Each one-on-one welcoming encounter reflects our desire to help others discover all St. Petersburg has to offer.
You can pick us out in a crowd by our bright, happy yellow t-shirts and big smiles!
What a great three-page write-up in the Northeast Journal! Check it out:
We also got some nice press recently in the Green Bench Monthly. Check it out here:
And a great article in the January issue of The Island Reporter:
We made a presentation to the St. Petersburg City Council in April. Watch it here:
The Sunshine Street Team is a program of the Downtown Business Association of St. Petersburg, with a steering committee of community stakeholders, under the leadership of Executive Director Sharon Fennell-Kennedy.
Sharon was born in Buffalo, New York, and attended the State University College of New York at Buffalo, graduating with a major in English. She comes to us after a 25-year career in the nonprofit sector.
In 2008, Sharon and her husband John moved to downtown St Petersburg from Rhode Island. She readily immersed herself in the community and is active in many civic organizations including The Stuart Society (Museum of Fine Arts), Women’s Chamber of Commerce (Membership Chair for 2016-17), Woman’s Service League and St. Petersburg Preservation.
