The History:
Back in 1973, a small group of downtown retailers formed to promote their businesses. At that time, the only shoppers were people who worked downtown, and summers were SLOW!!!! So they created this event so that people could shop before going to work, and they drew them in with doorbuster specials. Later, the pajama theme was added and stuck - even grabbing the attention of the New York Times! Of course downtown has changed, but the need to support small businesses in the slow summer months has not. So we hope that you'll put on your pajamas, grab some coffee, and join us before the sun comes up for incredible deals, community fun, and maybe even a few surprises along the way! |
